Personalised triathlon nutrition

Triathlon

Men’s and women’ Triathlon has been an integral part of the Olympic program since the Sydney games in 2000. The original Ironman Triathlon is considerably longer than the Olympic distance event, which comprises of a 1500m swim, 40km cycling and 10km running. For Olympic level athletes this will take about 2 hours for the women and about 1 hour 50 minutes for the men. Triathlon training places the body under extreme metabolic stress and can results in mineral deficiencies immune suppression and increased infections. Running in particular results in muscle, ligament and tendon damage which can be debilitating, preventing top level performance from being attained.
