Men’s and women’ Triathlon has been an integral part of the Olympic program since the Sydney games in 2000. The original Ironman Triathlon is considerably longer than the Olympic distance event, which comprises of a 1500m swim, 40km cycling and 10km running. For Olympic level athletes this will take about 2 hours for the women and about 1 hour 50 minutes for the men. Triathlon training places the body under extreme metabolic stress and can results in mineral deficiencies immune suppression and increased infections. Running in particular results in muscle, ligament and tendon damage which can be debilitating, preventing top level performance from being attained.
The Elite Sport Group (ESG) have been working with international standard triathletes for more than a decade. During this period we have developed personalised triathlon nutrition programs to specifically meet the needs of training and competition. These include race proven protocols to – maintain hydration in hot weather, increase the ability to absorb food during racing and reduce stomach problems during competition. ESG also use a unique combination of nutrition and sports medicine to effectively manage injuries in triathletes. Our approach is scientifically proven to reduce tissue breakdown and increases the speed of recovery, particularly after debilitating injury.
