Ignatas is one of the hand picked European riders on the MTN-Qhubeka team, who specialises in racing against the clock. He made his breakthrough to top level racing when riding for the Cervelo Test Team at the 2009 Tour of Italy. His nutritional support for this exceptionally hot Giro was provided by Dr Robert Child of the Elite Sport Group (ESG), and focused on maximisimg recovery, hydration and nutrition for time trials. Ignatas finished the Giro sufficiently fresh to win the final time trial in Rome, ahead of more favoured riders such as Bradley Wiggins and Lance Armstrong. The 2013 season brought a return to form, winning the Lituanian Time Trial Championship for the first time since 2009, and finishing runner up in the Lithuanian Road Race Championship. Ignas’s fun personality off the bike often shrouds his complete focus during racing. This is evident from his high finish at the 2013 World Road Race Championship and unique philosophy on time trialling.
